Background
Utilita SRL, founded in 1992 in Costabissara, near Vicenza (Italy), is a leading player in the production of small precision parts as a subcontractor for various industrial sectors.
With 45 employees and $5.7 million in revenue in 2023, Utilita SRL stands out for its expertise in micromechanics, supplying high-quality components to the jewelry, medical/dental, and industrial sectors, primarily aerospace és space industries.
The company recently invested in CLOOMA’s closed-loop manufacturing software solution, improving the stability and efficiency of its production processes.
Founded by Mr. Sign Zamberlan, Utilita SRL is a family-owned company that brings the precision and aesthetic sense of jewelry-making into the world of mechanics.
Initially focused on subcontracting for the jewelry and watchmaking industries — Utilita is located near Vicenza, the capital of goldsmithing — the company expanded in 2004 into the aerospace sector, followed by the medical/dentalés precision micromechanics fields.
Its customers (about 75% Italian) are primarily medium and large companies as well as international groups.
In a fast-evolving market where responsiveness and flexibility are essential, Utilita’s management recognizes the importance of innovation across all areas.
They invest time and human resources to acquire new know-how and cutting-edge production tools.
Utilita SRL distinguishes itself through its technical expertise, quality controls at every stage of production, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.
Its machine park includes multi-axis turning and milling centers as well as high-precision measurement machines(optical, contact, CMM, etc.).
The company is recognized for its ability to deliver high-quality products while meeting strict deadlines and ensuring flexibility.
“We bring the culture of jewelry-making into all our production — focusing not only on precision and quality but also on aesthetic and functional aspects,” explains Andrea Zamberlan, President and CEO of Utilita SRL.
This philosophy is reflected in the certifications the company has obtained over the years, demonstrating its commitment to excellence and innovation.
Utilita SRL upholds high-quality standards, certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001, UNI EN 9100, UNI CEI EN ISO 13485, and soon UNI EN ISO 14001.
The Italian company produces a wide range of high-precision, high-finish turned and milled parts, ranging from 1.5 mm to 51 mm in diameter.
For general precision micromechanics, the materials used include steel, aluminum, gold, silver, platinum, titanium, copper, bronze, és special plastics.
For example, the micro-components produced for the medical sector are used in spinal orthopedics, dental implants, surgical instruments, and maxillofacial trauma applications.
How Utilita Invested in CLOOMA's solution
Always at the forefront of innovation, Utilita SRL has invested in CLOOMA solution to meet the growing quality and reliability requirements of its customers.
“We were looking for software capable of ensuring stable and efficient processes, especially for our clients in sensitive sectors such as aerospace and implantology. After a thorough evaluation, we chose Ellistat for its outstanding performance,” explains Andrea Zamberlan.
Utilita SRL selected CLOOMA following in-depth research and a successful test phase of the solution.
“We immediately saw the potential of the APC module, which automates the adjustment of machining centers.
The results were very satisfying and met our expectations,” adds Mr. Zamberlan.
Implementation of APC began with a CNC machine and a Zeiss inspection instrument, applied to three different parts.
Despite a few delays due to internal priorities, training and installation were completed quickly and efficiently.
“By testing the solution in a simple configuration, we were able to appreciate the results achieved. CLOOMA enables us to guarantee the quality and reliability of our processes — a fundamental goal for us!” says Mr. Zamberlan.
Another key benefit, in today’s context of shortages of skilled labor, is that CLOOMA has reduced the need for highly specialized personnel for control and correction operations.
This allows certain production tasks to be delegated to less specialized operators.
“This solution is crucial to maintaining our high-quality standards while meeting the growing demands of the market,” concludes Mr. Zamberlan.
Building the Future with CLOOMA
The project undertaken with CLOOMA doesn’t stop there.
Utilita SRL plans to further expand the use of APC, interconnecting multiple inspection instruments with an increasing number of CNC machines.
“We’re looking to interface a control cell — several instruments — with more machines. Some aspects still need to be explored regarding the interface with continuous 5-axis machining processes,” explains Mr. Zamberlan.
It’s worth noting that CLOOMA is compatible with all types of CNC machines and measuring instruments.
The software — both intuitive and innovative — makes the manufacturing process autonomous.
Regardless of the machine or the complexity of the part, CLOOMA can apply corrections based on the measurement of a single piece.
“Our goal is to maximize the benefits of the CLLOMA software by fully integrating it into our production process. We’re confident this will allow us to achieve an even higher level of performance and quality,”
says Mr. Zamberlan.
In conclusion, the investment in CLOOMA closed-loop solution demonstrates Utilita SRL’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
“We’ve always believed that innovation is key to staying competitive. CLOOMA gives us the tools we need to deliver the highest-quality products to our customers,”
concludes Mr. Zamberlan.
